My 2017 Summer: I tried not to travel but it still happened

Like I said over a year ago, I don't generally travel far and wide during the summer, because I like to stay home and work. This summer in particular, I was so happy to finish paying off my Scotland debt, that I was like "NO TRAVEL, Francisco, just stay home and get stuff done".

I mostly did stay home and achieve a few things off my to-do list:

- I continued my Youtube channel: Ligas y Charolas, el canal en el que respondo preguntas sobre corrupción como servicio a la comunidad.
- I wrote the scripts for a bunch of Youtube videos in advance.
- I wrote an academic article and started a few others.
- I read a LOT.
- I started watching the movies in this list.

I also did not achieve a few things, such as watching Game of Thrones or reducing my tsundoku, but you know. I'll keep working on those.

In the middle of June I did travel to Guadalajara to give a talk titled "Economic growth vs. Economic development" in Tec de Monterrey's Campus Santa Anita. That was fun, and also exhausting, because I went to Guadalajara and came back the same day.

Fun Fact: Campus Santa Anita is REALLY similar to Campus Sinaloa, where I did high school.
At the beginning of July I took care of a white cat named Nora while her family was travelling. That was fun. She was extremely cuddly, which leads me to believe she was simply using my body for warmth. We mostly watched Netflix together and played in the yard.

Fun Fact: Nora the cat shares a name with my mother and my sister.
Around the middle of July I went to Universidad Iberoamericana, here in Mexico City, to share my state-building workshop with the international relations students there. If you've been my student, you've probably done that activity. It's the one where teams of different sizes create a fictional country and then some people exchange places to create conflict. It turned out those Ibero students were mostly financially-driven pacifists, so most of their countries were immigrant-friendly democracies... with really strong national identities. That got weird really quick, but it was fun.

Fun Fact: Ibero may not have a lot of lunch options in the summer, but you know what it does have? Fluorescent lighting. LOTS OF FLUORESCENT LIGHTING
All my students are new this year, so I hope to get to know all of you soon! If you have questions, here are my Frequently Asked Questions, one and two. I may sound intimidating when I talk, but I'm actually nice. :D
