CAR: Cold War Movie Time, "Moscow Does Not Believe in Tears" by Vladimir Menshov (April 11)

Today we will watch part of "Moscow Does Not Believe in Tears", also known as "Москва слезам не верит" in class, and you may watch the whole thing in the afternoon screening. It'll be in Room C-20, from 4 to 6 PM.

This is a Soviet movie that won the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film in 1980. No one who participated in the film was allowed to leave the Soviet Union to attend the ceremony, so the award was accepted by the Cultural Attaché to the Soviet Embassy in the United States. We will be watching it in the original Russian, with English subtitles.
