1. "International Relations" by Scott, Carter, and Drury. This is the only mandatory book. Please buy it at Porrúa, because you have a student discount and it will have an additional discount for the first couple of weeks of the semester.
Optional reading:
2. "Essentials of International Relations" by Karen Mingst. Cool book to have if you're interested in IR stuff, or plan on studying International Relations. It's in the library.
3. "The Great Escape" by Angus Deaton. He won the Nobel Prize in Economics last year, so it's a relevant book right now. Health and economic inequality are extremely important topics in the world, and they will be covered in this class. It's probably in the library.
4. "Bound Together" by Nayan Chanda. He is a leading historian on globalization and an interesting journalist. Is globalization something that just happens, or is it optional? Lets discuss it. It's in the digital library.
5. "The Quest for Good Governance" by Alina Mungiu-Pippidi. She's actively studying corruption control through interesting social science methods. The last case study in the class is in this book. It's in the library.
6. "A Brief History of Neoliberalism" by David Harvey. Ever wondered how we would talk about the Soviet Union if we refused to use the word "communism" like we refuse to use the word "neoliberalism" to refer to our own reality? Yeah. So did David Harvey. I don't think it's in the library, but I can get it for you.
