Two important points:
1. There is no official textbook. We will look at various sources throughout the semester.
2. The novels will be divided in teams, and each team is only required to read and do research on the one they get on the list. Reading the rest is not mandatory, but it is highly recommended in order to do the class exercises on them. If you decide to buy them, I recommend you do it on Kindle, as a lot of them are actually free due to them being in the public domain.
The novels that will be covered in class are the following:
1. "Lady Susan" by Jane Austen.
2. "Silas Marner" by George Eliot.
3. "The Man Who Was Thursday" by G. K. Chesterton.
4. "Maurice" by E. M. Forster.
5. "Sab" by Gertrudis Gómez de Avellaneda.
6. "Around the World in Eighty Days" by Jules Verne.
7. "Things Fall Apart" by Chinua Achebe.
8. "The Travels of Lao Can" by Liu E.
9. "A Young Doctor's Notebook" by Mikhail Bulgakov.
